On March 15, 2014, Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay will be doing some work at Plymouth Park in Tampa Heights.  The project is not exceedingly huge, so they will only need five (5) volunteers from the DZAA to assist.  The project will begin at 8:00 a.m. and should conclude around 1:30 p.m.    Volunteers will be asked to assist in setting up, the check-in process, and help paint and build decks for low-income families in the Tampa Heights community.  They also need assistance in organizing supplies and relocating back to the main office.

 Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay

If anyone is interested in helping out for this event, please contact David Ebner to coordinate.  DZAA helped out Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay last year, and the Brothers who volunteered their time and efforts can testify to how rewarding an experience it can be!

If you’ve been waiting for your chance to give back to your community, now’s your opportunity!  Let’s all help rebuild Tampa Bay!

In the News – 2014 USF Football Season Takes Shape

University of South Florida’s 2014 football schedule began to take shape Wednesday when the American Athletic Conference announced home and away conference opponents for all 11 conference teams for the 2014 season. Dates, kickoff times and television arrangements will be announced at a later date.

USF-BullsIn addition to previously announced USF non-conference match-ups with Western Carolina (Aug. 30), Maryland (Sept. 6) and North Carolina State (Sept. 13) in Raymond James Stadium and a road contest at Wisconsin (Sept. 27), the Bulls will once again play four conference home games and four conference road games in 2014. The Bulls’ schedule will feature six teams that reached a bowl game last season, including Maryland and Wisconsin from the Big Ten, with four of those teams visiting Raymond James Stadium.

USF’s conference home schedule will see East Carolina, Houston, and UCF, which all played in bowl games last season, as well as UConn coming to Raymond James Stadium.

The Bulls will make the program’s first-ever road trips to Tulsa and SMU as well as play at Cincinnati, a bowl participant last year, and Memphis in conference action. LTMKTWNSURMZMHO_20121001153147USF will not play Temple, for the second straight season, or Tulane in the eight-game 2014 conference schedule.  USF’s game at Tulsa will mark the first-ever meeting between the programs. The Bulls will be facing East Carolina for the fifth time but first since 2006. The Bulls faced all of the other six opponents on their 2014 conference schedule last year in the first season of The American.

If you get the opportunity, make plans to support your Alma Matter when the Bulls come to your town!  For the full article, check out http://www.gousfbulls.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=7700&ATCLID=209404415

Around the Peninsula – Gettin’ Down ‘N Dirty with Theta Delta

This past weekend, our Brothers at the University of Florida got down and dirty Down n Dirty 2when they participated in Pi Beta Phi Sorority’s annual philanthropy, Down ‘N Dirty.  This philanthropy consists of a BBQ and a flag football tournament, and the gentlemen of University of Florida’s various Fraternities compete in the tournament to be named the overall winner of Down ‘N Dirty!  Exciting and fun, the event has some of the highest participation out of every Sorority philanthropy on the University of Florida campus.  In 2013, the sisters of Pi Beta Phi raised over $22,000!

The Brothers of the Down n Dirty 1Theta Delta Chapter of Chi Phi, who never back down from a challenge, got out there and got dirty as they played hard.  While they didn’t make first place (that honor went to Delta Chi), the men of Chi Phi did manage to come in a very respectable third place out of all the Fraternities who participated!

Let’s give the men of Theta Delta props for not only getting out there and Down n Dirty 3staying involved in their Greek community, but for not being afraid of getting dirty to help their sisters I Pi Beta Phi promote and support literacy through their donations to First Book, an international nonprofit organization founded in 1992 with a single mission: to give children from low-income families the opportunity to read and own their first new books.
