Are You Ready for Rush?

With a new year comes a new semester at USF – and as well all know, that means Rush Week is nearly upon us. This semester, the Actives in the Delta Zeta Chapter are looking to increase their presence on campus and recruit new members with significant academic achievement.

The Brothers in the Active Chapter realize that having a larger Chapter can open more doors for everyone, as it will increase the amount of networking and leadership opportunities now, as well as in the future. (And, in case we forget, more new members = more Alumni!)

The Actives have designed a whole new look for their Spring 2015 rush shirt; and this year, due to interest from sororities, parents, and Alumni, the Chapter has decided to sell rush shirts for $10 each. The money collected from the sales of the shirts will be put to use during Rush Week and future Chapter activities.

Rush Week begins January 19th with the IFC Open House, and continues through the 20th, 21st, and 22nd, with a number of activities planned. The Alumni are encouraged to be involved and help out. For those who can attend and are interested in helping, you are encouraged to contact the Recruitment Chair, Alex Watts.

We are all looking forward to the Chapter having a successful 2015 Spring Rush Week!

Delta Zeta – Fall 2014 Rush Week!

Okay, Alumni, it’s that time again – time to support our Active Chapter as they get ready to enter Rush Week for the Fall 2014 semester. The Actives have some great activities planned, and if you are in, or are planning to be in, the Tampa area over the next week, it would definitely be a great show of support if you could participate in some of the activities.

TRADITIONS DINNER – Invite Only

The Actives would love to have the Alumni show up at any/all of the events – but the most important one is the “MEET THE ALUMNI” night on Wednesday evening, September 10th. This is an opportunity for prospective new members to meet not only the current Actives in the Chapter, but to meet the Alumni and see and hear just how Chi Phi has impacted their lives.
Let’s step up and help the Actives during their Fall 2014 Rush Week – make plans now to attend any and all events that you can!

Chapter News – A New and Unique Traditions Dinner

On Friday evening, January 17th, the Brothers of Delta Zeta capped off their 2014 Spring Rush Week with a Traditions Dinner held at Acropolis in Ybor City.  After a successful week of meeting young men from all walks of college life, the Chapter gave out invitations to those who showed the most promise.   Seven men joined a number of the Brothers at Acropolis restaurant on Friday night, along with Alumni Brothers David Ebner and Todd Latoski, for a very fun and definitely unique dinner event!

With a taste of various Greek dishes, the Delta Zeta Chapter and Alumni got to better know the potential new members – from a freshman who moved here from India to attend school, to a junior who came up from Miami to study criminology, to a young man who is finishing his degree in the medical field with the hopes of becoming a hospital lab technician.  As always with Chi Phi, the standards are high, and these seven diverse young men certain show they are striving for great things.

 Chi Phi Tradition Dinner

One thing that set this Traditions Dinner apart from previous dinners was the highlight of the evening for these guys – the opportunity to strut their stuff and show off their belly-dancing skills!  That’s right!  Acropolis’ own belly-dancer came upstairs and lured the Brothers (and even the Alumni!) into taking a shot at dancing.  Some were good, some were bad, some were downright hysterical – but all were in good fun, making the night a definite night to remember!

Now the Chapter will make the decision of whom to send out bids and who will actually be the next new members of the Delta Zeta Chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity at USF, and soon enough, we will be welcoming new Brothers into the fold!
